ACCOMMODATION

Please note that Utopia is neither a pleasure/holiday resort nor a lodge, it is a Nature Resort. You might see snakes, spiders and scorpions as well as smaller mammals. There is a great variety of birds – no less than 100 species have been identified.

If you are looking for accommodation such as a private lodge with aircon and game drives; OR a place to party -  then please look elsewhere – we do not offer that at Utopia and we would hate to disappoint you.

However we do offer basic, clean, affordable accommodation which is comfortable and has everything that you need for self-catering

Accommodation is in A-framed thatch and tiled chalets. Each has been tastefully decorated to make our guests feel at home.

Located in the majestic Magaliesberg range, in the maleria free North West Province of South Africa, the resort is a favourite for the hiker, mountaineer and those seeking a back to nature holiday.

FEATURES

I specialise in short-term holiday accommodation, offering fully equipped, affordable chalets. Each one comprising of a kitchenette (stove and fridge), lounge, sleeping for  4 or 6 people, bathroom and private patio with BBQ and beautiful mountain, river or dam vistas. Quiet and private.

Utopia is set in a private nature resort and in keeping with this there is no electricity. However some of the chalets have been modified to run lights off 12V. In order to preserve the wild life no pets are allowed and no noise is tolerated.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO?

Hiking

Although there are marked trails, the 117 hectare resort has many paths and the river can be walked along. The scenery from any point on the resort is ever changing and breathless and a full trip can take up to 3 hours. As we are in natural surroundings one should obviously watch out for snakes and scorpions. We do stress that none of  the flaura and fauna should be killed or disturbed.

Birding

No less than 100 bird species have been identified on the resort and visitors are kindly requested to notify the office of any sightings of species that have not been recorded on our list. In this way we can keep our bird list up to date and relevant.

Sporting

Tennis courts, putt-putt (please bring your own putters, raquettes and balls), Three swimming pools (not heated).
